So I'm looking to build a max dps BS for the purpose of tearing down abandoned hi-sec POSs. I figured max dps, cap stability and minimal ammo usage would be the primary considerations. This lead me to Amarr BS line. Please forgive the following EFT warrioring.
After reviewing fits for the Armageddon, Apocalypse, Abaddon and Paladin, I've found the Armageddon to be the best ship for my needs. This setup, with my skills and implants is cap stable and fits. The sustained dps is 1162 not overloaded. This setup does not include the 5% dmg bonus implants to laser and large laser turrents.
Highs 7x Tachyon Beam Laser IIs fitted with Gleam L ammo
Mids 1x 100MN MWD 2x Cap Recharger IIs
Lows 5x Imperial Navy Heat Sinks 1x Capacitor Power Relay II 2x Reactor Control Unit IIs
Rigs 3x Large Capacitor Control Unit Is
Drones 5x Garde IIs
Fitting specifics look like this: 564.25/636.56 CPU 27244.50/27276.56 PG cap stable at 34%
I do not know a lot about Amarr ships or energy weapons so I'm hoping you guys could provide input. I've found that while fitting 5 heat sinks does not improve the dmg much over 3, there is still a bonus. I've also found that the 5 heat sinks pretty much negate the bonus of any damage mod rigs, also rigs would break the fitting.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the replies. I did think I'd start out with T2 stabilizers over the imperial navy. The MWD was for the times when I warp in out of optimal range. This seems less of an issue with lasers but my first ship I setup was a blaster mega which required me to be on top of the POS.
I do appreciate the input on other ships/guns/dmg mods but could you post some of the reasoning behind the suggestions? I set up all 4 ships with similar setups (where possible) (tachs and full stabs) and the setup I posted came out to have the highest dps. Am I missing something? What about using faction multifrequency over regular T1 crystals? I chose the gleam cause they were cheaper than the navy crystals and more dps. How do low mods like tracking enhancers affect your dps against a stationary target?
Isk is less of a concern than time to me. So higher dps at the cost of a few more mil doesn't bother me a lot. again, thanks much :)

Originally by: Anubis Xian Maybe this is showing my ignorance on the subject, but why do you need beams to take out abandoned POSes?
You don't need beams specifically, but Amarr ships have the advantage of being able to fire many shots without having to carry (much) ammo or reload. If I'm understanding your question correctly.
also to Elstine, My plan was to scout with my alt to find my targets. then warp in with my main. and yes, i did mean heat sinks, not stabilizers, thanks for pointing that out. And I do understand this will be boring but it's more isk/hr (depending on the modules i can scoop up) than mining (in hi-sec) :)

Originally by: Millsy1 Near as I can tell, the -best- battleship for shooting a pos is a Paladin. I can out do a Torp raven in my Panther with sentry drones and 1200mm T2's, but a Paladin usually almost doubles my damage on a pos shoot if we show up at the same time. They are just ridiculous. They will out DPS a mothership on a pos shoot. The only thing I've seen that beats it is a Dread.
One Two
could you give me an estimate on your dps? I couldn't reach 1162 dps on the paladin with amarr BS V and marauder IV

again, thanks for all the replies. Napro, could you post the 1500 dps setup for the CNR? Again though, a limiting factor causing me avoid caldari ships is the ammo logistics and having to keep watch to re-initiate the attack after reloads.

the posted setups are very interesting. I had no idea this kind of dps was possible from a BS. However, an earlier poster suggested Orge IIs over Garde IIs. Can anyone provide me a definitive answer as to which will add the most dps? thanks

you really think your fit is better than: -getting a second account, pay for it with the iskies -using 2 pulse geddons with energy transfers? ... also never use conflag ammo, not even for stationary targets like that pos, either use faction MF (4k shots) or t1 MF (unlimited shots)
I'll have to toy around with the ararr setups posted. I'll go ahead and drop the t2 ammo per the suggestions. I'm still a bit confused as to why people are pushing the mega pulses over the tachs but as I don't know a lot about amarr, I can't really refute the claims. to put these dps numbers in perspective, can anyone post a dread's dps with a typical pos bashing setup?
thanks
